Welcome to the West Virginia Society for Respiratory Care!  The WVSRC is a chartered affiliate of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).  The WVSRC is the professional organization for respiratory therapists practicing in the State of West Virginia.  The WVSRC provides leadership to the state profession and offers educational seminars continuing education credits for education and training of respiratory care professionals.

The WVSRC Chapter 1 has been closely monitoring the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and local health agencies for the latest developments related to COVID-19 and following the guidance of government and public health officials. We have chosen to postpone the Annual Spring Healthcare Conference until August 2020. All who have already registered will be honored on the new date. The West Virginia Society for Respiratory Care Chapter 1 is an approved provider for Respiratory Care and for Nurses #WV50 -26102RN. Application has been made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS: You must attend all lectures in order to receive full credit: Respiratory Care 6, Nursing 7.2

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: Promote the health care team concept. Discuss best practices in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Meet requirements for Patient Safety and Ethics.

RT Student Scholarship Opportunity

The West Virginia Society for Respiratory Care is offering five $120 scholarships to eligible students.  To be eligible you must be in your last year of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program in West Virginia, which are listed below.  There will be one winner from each of the five schools. In the event not all schools have representation we will divide $600 equally among the winners. To enter please complete the attached form and email it to Rodney Vest at rodney.vest@wvumedicine.org by 11:59 PM December 31, 2019.

Your application will be reviewed by select members or past members of the WVSRC, who are not staff members of any of the Respiratory programs, and they will be blinded to your name.  They will only see your school and application 1 as an example.  If you have any questions about eligibility, please discuss with your program instructors.  The winners will be announced at the WVSRC Winter Conference at Canaan Valley in February 6-7, 2020.  You do not have to be present to win.  Good luck!
